of Mangos with Chili. -
0:49 - 0:51[ L ] Mangos with Chili is known to some people

0:51 - 0:54and a queer and trans people of colour
art apocalypse. -
0:54 - 0:56To us, we know it as the group founded in 2006

0:56 - 1:00that is taking queer and trans people of colour artists
all across north america. -

1:08 - 1:09[ C ] In our 8 years of existence

1:09 - 1:14we have supported 150 queer and trans artists
of colour in developing their work. -
1:14 - 1:17[ L ] Um, we have gone on 3 north american tours,

1:17 - 1:22we have performed over 100 different shows
in the Bay Area and beyond. -
1:22 - 1:23We're awesome.

1:26 - 1:28[ C ] We are going on our 4th tour.

1:28 - 1:31[ L ] It's our 4th tour, and it's
our first one in 4 years, guys. -

1:42 - 1:46[ L ] We decided we wanna take our beautiful stories
of love and resistance back on the road, -
1:46 - 1:48and we're doing it this February 2014.

1:48 - 1:50[ C ] And we wanna do this with you!

1:50 - 1:55[ L ] YES! Because as we've always said, capitalism
does not love us, but our communities love us. -
1:55 - 1:59[ C ] And we always said that we make this art for you
and we can't do it without you. -
1:59 - 2:02[ L ] We are taking an amazing crew
of artists on the road, -
2:02 - 2:07going from Vancouver Canada AKA Coast Salish,
un-ceded and occupied territories, -
2:07 - 2:08to New Orleans.

2:08 - 2:10The theme of our show is

2:10 - 2:13[ C ] "Whipped: Queer and Trans People of Colour Recipes for Love Sex and Disaster"
-
2:13 - 2:17[ L ] Um, you need this work, and we need this work
to be in the world. -
2:17 - 2:22And this is our 8th year of being in existence,
which is a fucking miracle for any organization, -
2:22 - 2:25but especially any grassroots
funded on a shoestring, -
2:25 - 2:28queer and trans people of colour arts organization.

2:28 - 2:30[ C ] And we really wanna
celebrate our 8th birthday with you. -
2:30 - 2:34[ L ] Yes, we also wanna get tour booty,
um, y'know, if it's possible, so... -
2:34 - 2:38[ C ] And we're also committed to doing a combination of community shows & university shows

2:38 - 2:43and it's really important for us to show up in community and not just be on university campuses.

2:43 - 2:48[ L ] Yes. Van rental is $3,000. Gas is $3-4 a gallon.

2:48 - 2:52We pay artists a fair amount for 2 weeks of work,
-
2:52 - 2:55[ C ] and we also provide them with a
per diem and all travel. -
2:55 - 2:57[ L ] Per. Diem.

2:57 - 2:59So... that's where y'all come in.

2:59 - 3:05[ C ] So basically we need some funds to make this
happen, and we wanna ask you to support us. -
3:05 - 3:09[ L ] So we just wanna say that, um, we are asking
you for any dollars that you can, -
3:09 - 3:11to support this life giving work.

3:11 - 3:14Um, we've always said that
we're not just performance art, -
3:14 - 3:19we are also a community healing space,
where people get to celebrate our loves, -
3:19 - 3:22and remember our ancestors, and give thanks
to the fact that we're still alive. -
3:22 - 3:24That's what we're taking on the road this year.
