Da tror jeg vi går i gang.
  • 0:04 - 0:06
  • 0:43 - 0:52
Then I switch over to English, to make it possible for everyone in the room to understand me.
  • 0:52 - 1:00
Today we have been privileged enought to get someone with deep knowledge about system administration,
  • 1:00 - 1:17
who has written a few books about system administration and is lecturing at the university College of Oslo. And is working on a Ph.D with system administration as the topic.
  • 1:17 - 1:23
    So I welcome Æleen Frisch.
  • 1:23 - 1:24
    Hi.
  • 1:24 - 1:28
Do I need to stay in the cameras frame?
  • 1:28 - 1:29
    No.
  • 1:29 - 1:36
Great. Cause I can not reach the mouse from the cameras frame.
  • 1:36 - 1:37
    Look at that screen.
  • 1:37 - 1:40
Cause I am going to stand in front of that screen, based on cable length.
  • 1:40 - 1:42
OK. Hi. My name is Æleen Frisch.
  • 1:42 - 1:46
I live in Connecticut, in the US, usually.
  • 1:46 - 1:49
But I am here for a semester, January to June.
  • 1:49 - 1:57
Teaching at the University College and their master degree program in system administration.
  • 1:57 - 2:03
Connecticut is near New York city, if you are not familiar with US geography.
  • 2:03 - 2:05
I am not that familiar with Norwegian geography.
  • 2:05 - 2:07
I know where Tromsø is, I know where Stavanger is.
  • 2:07 - 2:13
I've tried to learn all provices or "fylke", but not yet succeeded.
  • 2:13 - 2:17
So tonight we will talk about Kerberos.
  • 2:17 - 2:21
Kerberos is something I have been interested in learning more about for a long time.
  • 2:21 - 2:27
It is not something that I have a lot of experience with, so I took this opportunity to learn more about i
  • 2:27 - 2:28
    t.
  • 2:28 - 2:29
So hopefully you are not all Kerberos experts,
  • 2:29 - 2:32
otherwise this is, kind of, not going to be the greatest thing.
  • 2:32 - 2:35
How may of you are using Kerberos?
  • 2:35 - 2:37
    Great, a few of you.
  • 2:37 - 2:39
So if I say anything wrong, feel free to correct me.
  • 2:39 - 2:45
I hope I won't, but I stade away from the dark and scary corners.
  • 2:45 - 2:49
Kerberos really is the right way to do authentication securely.
  • 2:49 - 2:51
And I have been convinced of that for a while.
  • 2:51 - 2:58
But it is a bit of, not a terrible learning curve, but it is a bit of a barrier to get startet.
  • 2:58 - 2:59
And a lot of places still are not using it.
  • 2:59 -
For example at the college they are not using it.
